General

The Resource Efficiency Initiative is implemented on behalf of the European Union by a consortium led by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Confederation of the Indian Industry (CII) and adelphi. For the purpose of carrying out the implementation, the project frequently needs to collect, process and retain personal data, such as names, office addresses, phone numbers, photos or other data, including more sensitive information through procurements, calls for tenders or conference invitations. The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be followed.

Website Analytics

The EU-REI draws on the services of google analytics to analyse usage data. No other use is made of the data, and the data are not passed on to third parties. The following information is stored for each page you view and each file you download:
  • Technical details of the browser used
  • Anonymous IP address
  • Date and time
  • Page opened/name of the file downloaded
  • Quantity of data transferred
  • Notification of whether viewing or download was successful
  • Number of hits
  • Country location
  • Notification whether viewing or download was successful
Temporary session cookies are used each time you view an individual page, to make navigation easier. Cookies are small text files that are stored locally in your browser cache. Session cookies do not include any personal data and expire at the end of each session. We do not use methods such as Java applets or ActiveX controls that make it possible to track your browsing behaviour.

Data is processed based on Art. 6 paragraph 1 f) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) with the legitimate interest of analysing usage to improve the company’s website.

Registration

Any personal details collected through the form in Upcoming Event registration page is solely for the purpose of the particular event, and would not be used for any other purpose. Your personal details will not be shared with any third party. We do not share personal information with companies, organizations and individuals outside the Resource Efficiency Initiative.

The Contact Us section of this website includes interactive maps from Google Maps that can be activated with a double click. If you do this, information concerning your use of the website (including your IP address) may be transferred and saved to a Google server in the USA. Google will pass this information on to third parties if required to do so for legal reasons or if third parties process this data on behalf of Google.

Cookies

Cookies are small piece of data sent from a website and stored in a user’s web browser while the user is browsing that website. Every time the user loads the website, the browser sends the cookie back to the server to notify the website of the user’s previous browsing activity. We do not use any methods to track your browsing behaviour such as Java applets or ActiveX controls.Temporary etracker cookies: These session cookies are used for user analysis (see above). They do not contain any personal data and expire at the end of the session, or at the end of a user survey, which is generally carried out every two years.

Social Media Plug-ins

Our start section includes social media plugins of Facebook, Twitter and Google, that can be activated with a double click. If you do this, information concerning your use of the website (including your IP address) may be transferred, saved and used by Facebook, Twitter or Google. The mentioned companies will pass this information on to third parties if required to do so for legal reasons or if third parties process this data on their behalf.

Recipients of personal data

  • Data is not shared with third parties.
  • As a general principle, data will not be transmitted to third states.

Duration of data retention

Personal data are regularly deleted when
  • they are no longer needed for contractual purposes (e.g. for employment, top-ups, rental, sale or service contracts).
  • when the individuals concerned have not given any separate authorisation
  • when statutory data storage obligations and periods have expired.

Your rights

The Resource Efficiency Initiative intends to inform people whose personal daa is being processed, i.e. any concerned individual whose data has been collected, processed and eventually retained by means of a Privacy Statement, so that they may exercise their rights.
You have the right to (at no cost to yourself):
  • be informed of any processing of your personal data:
    • who is in charge of it
    • what the purpose is
    • what types of data are being processed
    • who is receiving the collected data
    • what logic is used in any automated decision-making process concerning your data
  • access and rectify your data — when inaccurate or incomplete.
  • have your data blocked or erased and object to the processing of personal data in certain circumstances (such as when the processing is unlawful, the data is inaccurate, etc., see articles 15, 16 and 18 of Regulation 45/2001).
  • be informed before your data are disclosed for the first time to third parties and to object to such disclosure.

Exercising your rights:
To exercise your rights, you must contact the controller in charge of your data processing. The controller’s functional mailbox address appears on the notification and on the privacy statement associated with each case of data processing, and also in the register of notifications.
If you cannot find the controller’s contact details, you can email the EEAS Data Protection Office.
You may lodge a complaint at any time with the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) who acts as an independent supervisory authority for all the institutions (see art. 41 to 45 of Regulation 45/2001) devoted to protecting personal data and privacy and promoting good practice in the EU institutions and bodies on the basis of EU Decision 1247/2002/EC on the regulations and general conditions governing the performance of the European Data Protection Supervisor’s duties.
The EDPS:
  • monitors the EU administration’s processing of personal data
  • advises on policies and legislation that affect privacy
  • cooperates with similar authorities to ensure consistent data protection
